Hundreds of Mumbaikars registered for the Mumbai Walbook to redecorate the defaced city walls and illustrated them with graphic visualizations of their dream city that they love and quintessentially Mumbai.

The paintings sent out strong social messages with themes of an ideal Mumbai, requirement of open green public space, anti-crime, anti-corruption, eco-awareness, non-violence, Bollywood frenzy and Lord Ganesha’s portrait beautifying the walls along the Tulsi Pipe Road in central Mumbai. The entire length of the 2 kilometre painted wall extends over three suburban train stations and is an arterial link road to the city centre.

The success of the wallbook in Mumbai prompted Tata Housing to host a similar event in the capital called the ‘Delhi WallBook’ which is yet another success for the brand. With nearly 500 participants in Delhi’s North Campus venue, people’s passion went on to establish Tata Housing’s Facebook page as the largest fan base in the realty space with 15,000 new fans, creating a total fan-base of about 88,000.

Commenting on the achievement, Rajeeb Dash, Head of Marketing at Tata Housing said, “It is an honour to be a part of the Limca Book of Records this year. Our Mumbai Wallbook initiative was an engaging project with Mumbaikars giving them an opportunity to express their thoughts in their creative best and we wereoverwhelmed with the enthusiastic response from artists. The event resulted in an astonishing turn out of citizens who desire a better Mumbai and were ready to demonstrate their views through their artistic skills. This national recognition of our support for art & culture is encouraging and this is truly reflective of our endeavor to inspire life through art. We plan to take The Wallbook initiative across to other cities of India as well.”

The Mumbai WallBook was a joint initiative by Tata Housing & Brand Promotions India Pvt. Ltd. to bring professional, amateur and budding artists on the same platform to showcase their skills and create a record for the longest wall painting by maximum artists.

Tata Housing will initiate ‘The Wallbook’ activities across cities in India such as, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and second series of Wallbook in Mumbai.

“We will continue to be Mumbai-centric, but we also want to try our hand at other important markets,” says Vikas Oberoi, CMD, Oberoi Realty. “To begin with, it will be a small investment. We will be undertaking this project to study the market. If it works out well, then we can continue operating there.”

Oberoi Realty, India’s second most valued listed developer has been looking for a land parcel in National Capital Region for last six months. The company is open to joint ventures proposals too, he added.

In the backdrop of sluggish commercial market scenario, the company is contemplating of converting its office space project Oberoi Splendor Commercial I on Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road in Andheri suburb of Mumbai into a residential one. The company is yet to take a final decision on this and is likely to do so in the next two months, Oberoi said.

As part of stipulated stake reduction by promoters of any company to maintain minimum public shareholding norm within three years of listing, Oberoi Realty is considering rights issue, offer for sale and other options to dilute promoters’ stake to mandatory 75% by October 2013. Promoters of Oberoi Realty held 78.49% stake in the company as on March 31.

For the quarter ended March, the company reported 1.1% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 145.17 crore on the back of 14.2% rise in revenue at Rs 325.99 crore.

The actress had signed a contract with the company for two years (2010-11). But she was shocked to see her snapshots in the ads on the front page of leading newspapers.

Says a source, “Her contract expired in mid-2011. She tried settling the matter amicably but since there was no response from their side, she had to file a case.”

Sagarika says, “Yes, a case has been filed but since I am not in Mumbai, my manager is taking care of the issue. The company is still using my pictures even after my contract with them has expired.”

The agency has agreed to clean the 12 roads, fix sign boards, maintain medians and traffic islands and ensure that posters and banners do not come up.

The 12 roads are namely Purasawakkam High Road, Vepery High Road, Gangadeswarar Koil Street, Gandhi-Irvin Road, Raja Annamalai Road, Narayana Guru Road, Jothi Venkatachalam Road, E V K Sampath Road, Pantheon Road, Raja Muthiah Road, Police Commissioner Road and Whannels Road.

The organization will employ garbage cleaners, gardeners and other staff required for the above. They will also fix clock towers for 20 corporation gardeners.

The Terry Fox Run was flagged off by the Head Master of Doon School, Dr. Peter McLaughlin and the Deputy High Commissioner of Canada in India, Jim Nickel, Gurmeet Singh from Indo Canadian Cancer Research Foundation. Around 1900 participants took part in the marathon.

A 7 member’s team from The 3C Company also participated in the run. The foundation will organize more such runs in other parts of the country in the coming months of which The 3C Company will be a part.

Terry Fox Run, ‘Marathon of Hope’ is dedicated to a 19 year old boy Terry Fox, who was diagnosed with cancer which resulted in his right leg being amputated above the knee. With and aim to get a bigger breakthrough to fight against this dreadful disease, Terry Fox Run is consistently joining hands with corporates to create awareness and raise fund for cancer research across continents.

The Indo Canadian Research Foundation (ICCRF) organizes the Terry Fox Run in Delhi, Dehradun and Kashipur.

According to Gurmeet Singh, Chairman ICCR, “We are happy to get associated with The 3C Company for creating awareness towards healthy living. We believe that the association will help us in raising funds for advanced cancer research in India and getting a deeper breakthrough for fighting the dreadful disease.”

Under this initiative, slew of fundraising activities will be organized throughout the year. Teams will be created by corporates to participate in such marathon and charitable contributions will be taken from companies. Donations in the form of monetary support, goods and services to support the cause will also be accepted by the foundation.

Apart from Dehradun, similar marathons will be organized in Delhi and Kashipur during the later part of the year.

Shetty has clearly come a long way from her days as a commerce student at Mumbai’s Poddar College when she thought her subject did not have much applicability in life. “I would ask my dad how trigonometry’s cosec and cosine would ever apply to my life? I guess it was destiny that after being an actor, I eventually became a businesswoman, which I think is what I was meant to do,” she says.

Groupco Developers is a 50-50 joint venture between Shetty and Tejuja, who is also a partner in her online property brokerage business. Shetty holds her stake through Kundra Constructions, a joint venture between her and husband Raj Kundra.

She is the chairperson of the company, which will follow an asset-light model wherein it will form alliances with local developers on revenue share basis, but keep majority stake with itself.

Tejuja, Managing Director of Groupco Developers, says a special project vehicle will be formed for each project. “Our local partner will be responsible for land parcels and approvals while Groupco Developers will execute the project and also market the same,” he says.

The first two projects will come up in Navi Mumbai and the ancient port city of Lothal (near Sanand) in Gujarat. It targets a revenue of nearly Rs 700 crore in the next three years through residential projects with total saleable area of around 1 million sq ft in Navi Mumbai and 150 acre project at Lothal.

Its Navi Mumbai portfolio includes a 75,000 sq ft project in Taloja, and another one in Kharghar with 60,000 sq ft saleable space.
Groupco is in talks to form alliances for three more projects in Mumbai Metropolitan Region and is looking for projects in Pune and Gurgaon.

During its 17th Annual General Body Meeting held today, P. Dasharath Reddy has been elected as the new President of association and Chalapathi Rao and B. Sunil Chandra Reddy as Executive Vice-Presidents.

The general body elected M. Vijaya Sai as Secretary-General and K. Gopalakrishna as Treasurer.

Dasharath Reddy, President, APREDA, in a statement said, “Today, the real estate industry is in a transition period and the association has always been taking proactive steps to support and serve the builder and developers community.”

The association has been playing a role in the Government formulating realty-friendly policies and putting in place a comprehensive model to serve realty and the public.

It has been proactive in helping rationalisation of taxes and fees such as VAT, service tax, stamp duty and other registration charges.

The objective of the association is to leverage the team image which has a great combination of young, energetic, dependable and experienced players.

Supertech has been associated with the team since 2011, and the sixth edition of the league will mark the company’s third consecutive year of association with Royals.

Announcing the deal, Vibgyor Group chairman and managing director Raja Bhadra said in a release: “Rituparna’s national presence with her Bollywood releases in the coming months will add value to the advertising campaign.”

The 41-year-old actress is known for her role in “Dahan”, “Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh”, “Arohan” and “Anuranan”.
